Taoufik Sakka

Taoufik Sakka

Born in 1949, Taoufik began learning the filigree silverworking technique in the workshops of Ben Mlouka in 1971. He then transformed his father’s chaouech, an atelier where traditional red chechia hats were made, into a silversmithery.

Quote: “Filigree always attracted me because it’s the most noble of techniques: 100 percent manual and the most difficult to master; it requires rigor and patience, and sometimes a piece takes five silversmiths a month to finish.”
