Silver Ambergris Collection
The pieces in the Barka Amber Collection are not only visually graceful, but they also appeal to our olfactory appetites with the heavenly aroma of ambergris. Each item is made from a combination of sterling silver, worked through the rigorous rayhana process, and a fragrant amalgam of ambergris, musk, aloe wood, and dried rose petals; some also contain decorative red coral fragments. The ancient filigree technique, which requires a great deal of patience and skill on the part of several artisans at once, also features in the collection. The Amber Collection makes use of four traditional symbols—the fish, the five-finger khomsa hand, the triangular skhab from the town of Moknine in Tunisia’s Sahel region, and the Amazigh tigar emblem native to the island of Djerba—all of which are said to bring good luck to the one who wears them.
