This necklace features a fish with an amber head and tail, and a body made from a plentiful pool of white cultured pearls. In Tunisia, the fish is a traditional symbol of fertility; a longstanding wedding ritual, still celebrated in the seaside region of Sfax, has the bride step over a plate of fish. The rite is thought to bestow the blessing of childbirth upon the newly married couple.
