Rose Water Sprinkler with Gold-plated Chouchou
Those who go to pray on Friday at the ancient Kairouan mosque are bid adieu with an anointment of rosewater served from a silver mrach just like this one. Elaborately rendered using the complicated filigree silverwork process, this mrach is a classic Tunisian design. In this case, the silversmith has decorated the device with an ornamental chouchou plated with gold. This top piece twists off, so you can fill the vessel with rosewater or liquid sugar.
